Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble
The current Genesee Valley Wind Ensemble (GVWE) was founded January 1, 2014 and presented its first concert April 27, 2014. This group is a continuation of the Genesee Wind Ensemble founded by Bradley Meholick. The current group was inspired by the Eastman Community Music School Music Educators Wind Ensemble, conducted by Bill Tiberio.
The group's purpose is three fold. The GVWE exists to serve and provide the Greater Genesee Valley audience with new and familiar live music, to serve and provide its membership an opportunity to perform challenging wind ensemble literature and to provide an opportunity for the conductor and musicians to grow their collective musical talents. The membership of the GVWE includes professional musicians, music educators, and amateur musicians. These musicians apply to become members of the GVWE based on their training, experience and personal musical goals. The group continues to increase its visibility and location of concert venues. The wind ensemble has celebrated a performance at the Buffalo Philharmonic's Community Spotlight program on November 19, 2016. |
